At Acupuncture4wellbeing we want to make sure our clients know the philosophy behind traditional acupuncture and how it can benefit them.
Traditional acupuncture treats the whole person, body and mind, and not just the symptoms. It has been researched, refined and developed for centuries. Acupuncture is now widely used and accepted all over the world.
According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health comes from our Qi - the body's motivating energy - moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin. If the flow of Qi is unbalanced by anything from emotional issues, to poor nutrition, infections or even the weather, then illness can take effect.
Acupuncture helps restore the balance of your Qi. By inserting fine needles into the channels of energy, an acupuncturist stimulates the body’s own healing response. The benefits of acupuncture range from pain relief, to stress management, to an overall sense of well-being.
In your first session we will assess your general state of health. We will discuss your current symptoms, medical history, diet, sleeping patterns and overall emotional state, as well as taking your pulse and studying your tongue to build our diagnosis.
From this we will plan your treatment, addressing your specific pattern of disharmony. The number of subsequent sessions will vary based on the individual. Most people feel changes after five treatments and require weekly sessions at first, but some clients may need less frequent attention or may need treatment over several months.
You can be assured about the safety of all our treatments. We are bound to strict hygiene standards by The British Acupuncture Council and all procedures have been approved by the Department of Health.
